Distance (miles): 6.50   Ascent (feet): 650  Difficulty: Easy

BASLOW – CHATSWORTH HOUSE – BEELEY LODGE – CALTON LEES – CHATSWORTH PARK – BASLOW
The Splendours of Derbyshire (with Tarts)

Description:

Our walk today starts in the village of Baslow, leaving the village we enter the Chatsworth Park estate, to pass by the famous stately home of Chatsworth House, here we take the tracks to ascend gently behind the house giving beautiful views of the gardens below, continuing on good tracks we make a gentle ascent through the Chatsworth Estate, before descending to Beeley Lodge. From here we continue to Calton Lees, where the Chatsworth Garden Centre offers a fine café. We continue now gently strolling through Chatsworth Park towards Edensor to cross the bridge over the River Derwent near to the house, and continue through the estate to return to the village of Baslow and the end of the walk. We will have time in Baslow to have some refreshments either at the café or maybe to visit the Wheatsheaf Hotel. After our lunch break we take the coach to travel to the famous Peak District market town of Bakewell where we will meet up with the A and B parties for the return journey to Doncaster.
