B Walk 02-Jun-2019 Leader: Cath
Distance (miles): 8.00   Ascent (feet): 1060  Difficulty: Moderate

FAIRHOLMES CIRCULAR
Ladybower

Description:

Our walk starts at the Fairholmes Visitor Centre. We begin by walking along the road, or the parallel access path by the reservoir, to the turn off leading to Ridges Coppice, where we have a slight ascent through the woods until we reach the top of Hagg Side. The views from here are truly spectacular and well worth the effort. At the top of the wood we turn in a southerly direction and head down-wards on a good track along Bridge End Pasture to Crookhill Farm before reaching the A57. We continue over the road bridge to reach our lunch stop at the Ladybower Inn. After lunch we take the track to the drowned village of Ashopton to then follow an easy route back along the east side of La-dybower until we reach the dam wall of Derwent Reservoir. From here it’s just a short hop back to our start point at Fairholmes V.C. There are toilets and refreshments available at the centre.
