Distance (miles): 10.50   Ascent (feet): 548  Difficulty: Moderate

Edingley Village Circular via Southwell
Southwell

Description:

We start our walk from the village of Edingley heading in a westerly direction towards Cotton Mill Farm and Old Hall Farm and then onto the lovely village of Halam. Our route is very rural as we proceed via Westhorpe on the outskirts of the historic town of Southwell. We continue taking a route around the southern edge of the town passing many of the attractive buildings on the main streets as we make our way through town to reach our lunch stop at the remarkable pub — “The Final Whistle” (see note below). After our lunch break we leave Southwell in a north-westerly direction on good paths taking the disused railway line to reach Maythorne and then Osmanthorpe Manor and finally back to our starting point in the village of Edingley (or thereabouts).
